North Korea announced it tested hypersonic missile for the second time on Wednesday
This Wednesday North Korea again tested a hypersonic missile at sea, being the first military test of 2022. Tokyo condemned the launch and ensures that it will strengthen its surveillance system.
Since 2021 North Korea has launched missiles into the sea. The government announced that it will further strengthen surveillance to prevent North Korea from continuing to launch missiles.
In September 2021, North Korea made the first hypersonic test and the second was this past Wednesday, these tests of these missiles can bring serious security problems for Asia.
A hypersonic missile can destroy all missile defense systems, said Drew Thompson, a former US Defense Department official.
It will take more time and improvements before Pyongyang can deploy a hypersonic weapon.
The director of the North Korea Study Center, Cheong Seong-chang, and a group of private South Korean experts said it would take much longer to launch a hypersonic weapon.
In order to launch a hypersonic weapon, North Korea will need at least two or three more test launches in the future.
Countries believed to have hypersonic weapons too
Over time, it has been believed that only two countries have hypersonic weapons, China and Russia. In 2019 Russia announced that its missile system called Avangard was in service, Putin in 2018 said in a Russian speech that his Avangard system was invulnerable to all Western air defenses.
In January 2020, Russia oversaw tests of another hypersonic system, the Kinzhal, and in late November Russia successfully tested its hypersonic missile.
China tested a missile in August which fell from a heavy vehicle, so said the US military, they launched a long-range missile.
Defense development plan
The test of the launch of the hypersonic missile this past Wednesday, was a test carried out due to the defense development plan that is raised and decided by the eighth Party Congress.
