Russian tanks have advanced in the course of the day from Crimea and Belarus into the interior of Ukraine and a large detachment of soldiers stormed the Antonov airport, which is 25 kilometers from Kiev.

Minutes later, military transport aircraft packed with troops landed, according to Russian media. The international authorities consider that it is a matter of hours before the Russian army assaults the Ukrainian capital.

From the Ukrainian government, they do not rule out that Moscow plans to arrest or even assassinate President Volodimir Zelenski, who has taken refuge and his whereabouts are unknown.

On the other hand, the mayor of Kiev, Vladimir Klichko, decreed that a curfew begins throughout the capital from this Thursday. In the early morning hours, the war alarms did not stop sounding as Russian warplanes flew over the capital.

The inhabitants of the capital who have not been able to evacuate, took refuge on the underground train tracks.

A group of soldiers who entered Ukraine from Belarus are trying to control the area of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, said Anton Gerashenko, deputy interior minister.

Chernobyl is located between the border of Belarus and the capital of Ukraine. According to the deputy minister, if a bomb manages to damage the atomic waste warehouse, a radioactive cloud will spread over a large part of the countries of the European Union.

For its part, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that through the operation on Ukrainian territory they have neutralized 74 military buildings, including 3 command posts, a naval base, 18 monitoring stations and 11 airfields.

The media have assured that the Ukrainian army lost control of the entire southern region of Kherson, after a Russian armored contingent was deployed in the area.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has assured that there are heavy clashes in Lugansk, Donetsk, Kharkov and Kherson, in addition to Shastie and Mariupol.

Through the issued statement, they affirm that they have decommissioned at least six aircraft, two helicopters and dozens of combat vehicles from the Russian army.

The advisor to the Office of the President of Ukraine has confirmed the death of at least 40 Ukrainian soldiers.

Meanwhile, separatists in the Donbass region say they have wrested control of Stanitsa Luganska and Schastie from Ukrainian forces.

Severance of relations with Russia

The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky, in the morning announced that Ukraine was breaking diplomatic relations with the Kremlin.

The president has compared the Russian attack on Ukraine with the attack of Nazi Germany in World War II, in addition, he called on the citizens of Russia to protest against the war.

Several rallies and protests against the Russian military operation in Ukraine have been reported in Pushkin Square, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and other locations in Russia.

Likewise, celebrities and public figures in Russia have expressed their dissatisfaction with this Russian military attack on Ukraine, ordered by President Putin.

In the early hours of the morning, Putin announced that, in accordance with article 51 of the UN charter and with the approval of the Duma (Russian House of Representatives), it was decided to undertake the special military operation.
