Prince Andrew stripped of all titles over sexual harassment accusations
From Buckingham Palace, it has been announced that the Prince of Great Britain has been stripped of his military titles and patronage as a member of the royal family.
The Prince of the United Kingdom and Duke of York, Andrés Alberto Cristián, is one of the sons of Queen Elizabeth II, and has currently been removed from all his military ranks, charities and the patronage of the royal family.
All this is due to the result of the investigations carried out, which point to the prince as a possible sexual harasser of minors.
Allegations investigated
Activist Virginia Giuffre unleashed months ago in a New York court, the case in which she accused Prince Andrew of sexually abusing her when she was only 17 years old.
According to Giuffre, she was a 16-year-old girl working at the Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida, when she met Ghislaine Maxweel, who offered her a job as a private masseuse for a wealthy man.
That man was the late Jeffrey Epstein, who was Maxweel's partner at the time, who was creating a network of sexual victims for the billionaire, into which they were introducing Virginia Giuffre.
How is Prince Andrew related?
In the lawsuit Giuffre filed with the New York court, she alleges that the late Epstein forced her to have sex with the prince when she was 17 years old, and he participated in the act even knowing she was a minor.
Given the accusations presented, the court ruled in favor of Virginia Giuffre, which allows the lawsuit against the York to continue with a legal trial.
Statements from the Royal Family
Through a statement it was announced that both the queen and the royal family recognized everything that was happening with the prince, so they announced that all the titles he had were returned to the queen and redistributed to other members of the royalty.
Similarly, it was specified in the statement that from now on the Duke of York will not assume any official position, will defend himself as a private citizen and will no longer be able to use the "His Royal Highness" style.
