Kiril Dmitriev, president of the FIDR, said that there is hope that omicron is the beginning of the end of the pandemic, although he is sure that there is a risk of more mutations. He also believes that the future lies in the combination of vaccines.

The FIDR has presented a report carried out by the Italian Spallanzani Institute, which works on infectious diseases, in which Russian and Italian scientists have participated, and which shows that S putnik V outperforms Pfizer against the omicron variation.

Kiril claims that Sputnik V produces more than twice as many antibodies against the omicron variant as two doses of Pfizer.

The study found that, under equal antibody conditions, all those vaccinated with Sputnik managed to neutralize omicron, while only 83.3% of Pfizer managed to neutralize it.

In its report, the FIDR highlighted the good results of the mixtures of the Russian single-serving Sputnik Light antibody with drugs created by AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Moderna and Cansino, made in Argentina.

Dmitriev guarantees that reinforcing the vaccination plan with Sputnik Light is one of the best solutions to extend the time of protection against the virus.

The scientists who created Sputnik called for open studies to be carried out as soon as possible to compare Sputnik Light with other vaccines against Covid-19.

According to the president of the FIDR, if they try to hinder these studies, they would be further prolonging the end of the pandemic. The results and benefits would not be used for personal gain.

Sputnik V, a two-dose anticovid vaccine developed in Russia, has been authorized in 71 nations covering a population of more than 4 billion citizens, while the single-dose Sputnik Light has been supported in 30 nations and is suggested as a booster dose.
