Seven dead in Russia due to battery fluid consumption

In Russia, at the St. Petersburg Municipal Diagnostic Center No.1 clinic, seven people suffered chronic injuries and agonizing deaths, after doctors instructed them to consume battery fluid before undergoing X-rays.

Under suspicion, Dr. Yevgeny Popov was arrested for providing a service which did not meet the required standards, indicating the consumption of industrial fluid, which is not for human consumption.

Medical reports indicate that the patients followed the doctor's order and consumed the liquid as a preparation process before undergoing x-rays of the stomach, intestine and esophagus at the clinic.

Four of the patients died after taking the liquid, as they began to present "hellish" symptoms and the doctors ignored them.

Zhanna Shmidt, a pathologist, told the local Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper that the clinic dissolved an uncertified powder in water and what they actually took was battery fluid, which contains mud salts.

Shmidt assured that said technical powder was kept in the laboratory for research, but not for oral consumption. When consumed, it caused people severe burns, intestinal damage, and poisoning.

Victims of battery fluid consumption

The consumption of toxic substances, like this, wreaks havoc on the stomach and esophagus, organ failure, serious infections. The first victim was a 60-year-old woman, who was rushed to hospital and died 12 hours later.

Alexey Tsaryov

The second victim who was admitted to the hospital was a 42-year-old man, Alexey Tsaryov. After his routine X-ray, he rapidly deteriorated.

Alexandra, his wife, commented that the patient complained to the doctors, because when he drank the liquid he felt dizzy and his eyes darkened.

Alexandra said that the doctors told her that it was normal and that it could happen. Taking it all, the procedure was performed. After telling the doctors that he wasn't doing well, they told him to go home and go to bed.

When they got home, they saw that Alexey was in poor condition and could not stand. Little by little it got worse and he began to vomit. He indicated to his wife that his face was numb, he could not feel his hands and that he felt that there was a poisonous chemical solution in his body.

Tatyana

Tatyana, a 66-year-old woman, lived an atrocious death after taking the X-ray, after consuming the drink, as her daughter Viktoria Andreeva pointed out.

She indicated that she did not understand the administration of the chemical substance in the hospital, since it is something that affects the body and that people die in a few hours.

Lyudmila Rechinskaya

The 75-year-old woman, after the examination, began to feel unwell. Her daughter Anna assures that after this, she began to vomit blood.

Her daughter blamed the doctors for covering up the scandal that was shaking the country.

After this, it was revealed that all the patients who were dying went to the same clinic. Two dozen patients ingested the liquid, before being X-rayed in St. Petersburg.

Currently, a criminal investigation is underway by the Russian Investigative Committee.
