Suspension of aid in Russia and Belarus by the World Bank
The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank plan to send economic aid to Ukraine.
All aid programs in Belarus and Russia by the World Bank (WB) have been suspended in response to the invasion of Ukraine.
The institution reported through a statement that, after the invasion and antipathy towards the people, the World Bank group decided to stop all programs in Belarus and Russia, immediately.
At the World Bank, he was involved in 11 projects in Belarus, which had a total of 1,150 million dollars. While in Russia, they included four projects, totaling 370 million dollars.
In the document, the institution emphasized the unknown approval of an alleged new loan or investment in Russia, since 2014, when the events of the annexation of Crimea to Russia.
They also denied new loans to Belarus from 2020.
Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, with Russia's invasion of Ukraine, generated outrage in the West and multiplied economic sanctions from Europe and North America.
For this reason, the World Bank notified on Tuesday that it was preparing an emergency aid of 3,000 million dollars in favor of Ukraine. This week they would be unlocking approximately 350 million dollars.
This measure was joined by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which plans an additional aid of 2,200 million dollars for Ukraine, which could be unlocked in its entirety between now and the end of June.
