The best Spanish-speaking streamers were victims of a hack in Andorra
O n Saturday, January 22, the most important Spanish-speaking content creators were victims of a massive hack, with only one thing in common, they live in Andorra.
The biggest streamers of the Spanish and Latin American scene were quietly participating in the SquidGame Minecraft when something prevented the development of the event.
A hacker dedicated himself to leaving the largest content creators in Spain who currently reside in Andorra without internet.
Their country of residence is no coincidence, these content creators have moved from Spain because taxes are too high that in some cases, they had to contribute up to 50% of their earnings.
TheGrefg, Rubius and AuronPlay were some of those affected, which quickly caused a storm in social networks that turned both the creators and "Andorra Telecom" (the only company that supplies internet in Andorra) in Trending Topic.
At first, streamers had believed that it was due to a Twitch glitch, however, the hypothesis was immediately dismissed when the hack was confirmed.
Content creators had experienced connection failures in recent days, confirming that the hack was perpetuating itself in advance.
However, this hack was not random, the streamers affected were those with the largest community. While TheGrefg, Rubius or AuronPlay were offline, other content creators were online without any problem like Ampeter or Rickyedit.
The hack has led the affected streamers to raise the possibility of filing legal claims against whoever perpetrated the attack, who is still unknown. In fact, Auronplay TheGrefg and Rubius offered a 10,000 euro reward to anyone who gave information about the hacker.
The reason for going to Andorra
In Andorra, the Personal Income Tax (IRPF) is 5 times less than in Spain.
This situation has led many, not only streamers but also athletes and singers, to move to Andorra, a tax haven for them.
In Spain, artists must pay the State between 40% and 50% according to their income. Income tax in Andorra has a maximum limit of 10%, which could be less if the taxpayer generates less than 40,000 euros of income.
For example, if a content creator generates 4 million euros in Spain, they would have to pay the State 2 million, while in Andorra they would only pay 400,000 euros.
