Through a statement, the drivers' organization declared a maximum alert in the northern territory of Chile, demanding more forceful measures by the police, the government and judicial entities in the face of robberies and attacks to which drivers are exposed.

The president of the organization, Juan Araya, pointed out that the death of his colleague is a "huge" sign of the great absence of security and order measures in the areas affected by the serious problem of illegal and uncontrolled migration. The issued document concludes with the declaration of alert by the CNDC at its headquarters in Antofagasta and Calama and the rest of the areas of the second Region that are represented by the Northern Federation. In addition, he assured the statement that he will not accept more crimes against drivers.Drivers have repeatedly made a call to mobilize with respect to the crime they have suffered, encouraging the blocking of main routes in the country. This Friday the demonstration was held for the death of a carrier.

In turn, they have assured that the crime problem has grown due to the migratory crisis that Chile is suffering and point out that many of the criminal acts are perpetuated by foreigners, mostly Venezuelans.

This migration and security crisis in northern Chile began in early 2021, affecting the border cities with Bolivia, where thousands of people have entered illegally.According to official surveys by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) , 66% of Chileans do not agree with welcoming migrants who enter illegally.
