Alex Hook began recording videos with his five-year-old daughter at the time of the coronavirus confinement

Alex Hook, a soldier of Ukrainian origin, went viral on the TikTok social network, making videos on this platform so that his little daughter knows that he is well, while working as a soldier in the conflict region of Ukraine.

The enlisted soldier has been working in the Donbas region since December 2022, (when the conflicts between Russia and his country began). Since then, he has uploaded videos to TikTok dancing, using his military uniform and weapons such as guitars. In other publications, Hook only shows his companions wearing their military equipment.

When the conflict between Russia and Ukraine began, he stopped publishing, but it was just at that moment that his content began to go viral.

The main purpose of his posts is to brighten the heart of his daughter, who previously also made videos with her father and is currently separated from him.

Millions of likes on the videos

Hook posted his last video on February 22, two days before the Russian invasion of Ukraine began.

In the publication, five Ukrainian soldiers can be seen dancing to the best rhythm of Smells Like Teen Spirit, by Nirvana. Which generated thousands of positive comments and more than 7 million likes on TikTok.

When the military's post went viral, many users began to write worried about Hook, since he had not uploaded anything since the conflict between Russia and Ukraine began. People feared that he had died defending his country.

In view of this, the Ukrainian soldier appeared on February 28 to dispel doubts and express that he was fine. "We are alive. We continue to fight for the independence of Ukraine," Hook said.

It all started as a way for Hook to have fun with his five-year-old daughter during the time of confinement due to the coronavirus. At that time, making videos on TikTok was a way to pass the time, and besides, his daughter liked it a lot.

In December 2021, when tensions began between the two countries, Alex Hook was forced to physically separate from his daughter to join the Ukrainian troops and that is when he decided, in the midst of the difficult situation, to record videos from the work so that his daughter knows that he was well and happy.
