The Stonewall Riots that gave rise to the celebrations of gay pride or WorldPride

The Stonewall was one of the first gay bars to open in the world. It opened in 1967, which generated a stir among all kinds of communities, since for that decade it was still considered illegal or prohibited to be homosexual.

At that time, in the United States there were no laws that protected homosexuals, quite the opposite. For this reason, many groups of policemen passed by the Stonewall Inn. stalking this community, and physically and verbally assaulting them.

All the riots started in the late 1960's outside the Stonewall. After various attacks by police officers on people who came to the bar, hundreds of people joined together to fight these aggressors.

The riots and marches as a sign of respect for the LGBTQ+ community continued for a long time, until the Stonewall group disintegrated. Even so, a short time later another community called "Gay Activist Alliance" would be generated, who would relieve the members of Stonewall and continue their fight for the rights of homosexuals.

All these types of marches and riots continued for many years until the authorities and governments around the world decided to accept members of the LGBTQ+ community as equals, and began to create laws that defended their rights.
