BlackBerry will stop supporting its operating system on January 4.

As of next Tuesday, the company has announced that it will no longer support the company's classic devices. That is, those who have Blackberry OS 10 and earlier.

In this way, these computers will no longer have access to data, send text messages, access the internet, make calls. In summary, this type of device will be completely useless from that day on.

So if you have a device with Blackberry OS you are going to have a paperweight.

BlackBerry devices.

It is no secret to anyone that Blackberry was one of the companies that was at the forefront of technology. For several years, their devices were the most coveted in the world and having one of these was a symbol of status. However, the reign of Blackberry was short and in 2007 began its decline.

Although the company continued to launch new devices, these were not successful, as Android and iOS took over the market. Since 2016 the company has definitively moved away from the cell phone sector to focus on security services for companies and governments.

What caused the Blackberry to crash?

The end of one of the best-known tech companies.

As we already mentioned, this company was extremely popular for several years. Both their devices and their BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) messaging system were loved by everyone. Their QWERTY keyboard devices revolutionized the mobile device market.

However, in 2007 the first iPhone appeared, a device with a touch screen that quickly gained popularity.

BlackBerry began to be a bit of a side, as the new touch devices offered greater versatility, in addition to a greater ability to update.

The following year, in 2008 Android appeared, which would become the most used operating system in the world. Unfortunately, BlackBerry was not able to compete with mobile touch devices and continued with its physical keyboard formula for years.

Its operating system was not up to par with iOS and Android, which caused users to start migrating.

Finally, with the arrival of WhatsApp, the BBM also began to be replaced, until it was finally obsolete.

That's how the company went from being at the top in the development and sale of mobile devices to being at the bottom. That is why the company has decided to leave everything behind and this includes completely cutting off device support.
