Starlink announces it deployed satellites to provide service to Ukraine
In the wake of Russia's recent invasion of Ukraine , one of the main problems facing Ukrainian forces is a possible blackout. And it is that, since the invasion began, communications within Ukraine are increasingly complex.
That is why, through a Tweet, the Ukrainian Minister of Technology asked Starlink to activate the service in the region. This is so that it can serve as a route in case Ukrainian communications collapse due to fighting.
Failures in the internet service in Ukraine
Due to the Russian attacks and bombings, the internet service in Ukraine has been affected and there are more and more failures. Despite the fact that the telecommunications companies and the government do everything possible to keep them, they fear that they could be cut off.
The Russians are attacking strategic targets with increasing force and the communications network is a key point. That is why the country is looking for solutions in case the worst could happen.
This is where Starlink comes in, since being a satellite service, it does not depend on communication towers or fiber optic cables. This makes it the perfect solution to maintain at least the main communications.
Ukrainian minister requests Starlink service to be activated
That is why one of the concerns is that the country ends up being disconnected. For this reason, the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov, summoned Elon Musk, CEO of Starlink, to ask him to enable his satellite internet service in Ukraine.
This tweet was echoed on Twitter thanks to a large number of "likes" and "retweets", which made the message reach Elon Musk. The Magnate responded to Fedorov 's request and assured that the service was already active in Ukraine and that more terminals (satellites) were on the way.
In this way, Elon Musk demonstrates his solidarity with the Ukrainian people and contributes his grain of sand. This gesture will be of great help to the Ukrainian people and fighters who are defending their country from a brutal invasion prompted without reason from Moscow.
