Hyundai employs virtual reality

Thanks to the advancement of technology, Hyundai achieves more sustainability in its cars, due to virtual reality and 3D modeling.

Currently, Hyundai works clearly with virtual reality, in each of its vehicle designs. However, a few years ago the company's creative team made their sketches in pencil, on paper.

These sketches showed the type of car they wanted to make, they were generally exaggerated designs. After the creative team finished their initial sketches, they would present their proposals to the board and compete to see which one would be selected.

The selected sketch was developed in the next stage as a medium-scale clay model. Later, the model was scanned and molded to real scale.

Hyundai virtual reality

Today, clay models are a thing of the past. Now Hyundai uses very advanced and intelligent technological tools, such as 3D digital design software.

This software allows the company's specialists to make 3D models, on a real scale. This gives you a faster design process.

Vehicle designers at Hyundai work with industry-standard software. This system is previously programmed so that they can work collaboratively.

This advanced technology is used in high-performance laptops capable of supporting 3D graphics, cinema technology and innovations from the world of sports.

This equipment allows specialists to develop images of the vehicle, in virtual reality, to obtain important data for its development.

Create cars using virtual reality

Since Hyundai uses virtual reality to develop its cars, the company's designers have gained new opportunities. In this way they have the possibility to create more models in a faster and more accurate way.

One of the tools is gravity sketching. This allows specialists to develop 3D car designs, focused on the true needs of the human being.

Designers use headsets and controllers to enter virtual reality to simulate human movements and gestures inside a vehicle.

Also, by doing the work in 3D, they get to experiment with different proportions and build variants based on their main ideas. With the help of the car's 360-degree view, they can draw from any angle.

This virtual reality also provides designers with an unlimited number of options for materials, leathers, fabrics, lighting and color.

A less expensive process

Apart from saving time in creation, Hyundai has been able to reduce transportation costs.

In addition, the use of these technologies has turned out to be more sustainable, since they generate less waste, which implies a huge reduction in CO2 emissions.

The digital design process creates less carbon, since less clay, paper and other materials are used in the creation.
