The True Detective series returns after 3 years of production on HBO
The crime series produced by Matthew McConaughey has had a rocky trajectory since its first broadcast in 2014.
" True Detective " began to be part of the HBO content portal in 2019, since the rights were transferred to the company, the wait between the production of each installment has been longer than usual.
In each of the installments, the series has a unique anthology, implements a new plot and the cast varies in each season. The series has aired 3 seasons to date, however, HBO has repeatedly mentioned the possibility of a new installment in the future.
Therefore, a couple of days ago the directors of HBO Max announced that they are working on the fourth season of " true Detective".
On this occasion, the production of season 4 will change its director, since the project will be executed by the Oscar-winning filmmaker and producer 'Barry Jenkins'.
Synopsis for 'True Detective'
The police drama series is a story created by screenwriter 'Nic Pizzolatto' hand in hand with director Cary Fukunaga in early 2014.
The story is based on a plot of investigation of criminal cases that are presented in North America, in each season a different case is presented, which includes different protagonists.
The main story of ' True Detective ' centers around two investigative agents Rust Cohle and Martin Hart. Both will begin to intertwine their stories when they have to form a team to investigate the reopening of a case that happened more than 17 years ago.
Throughout the series, the detectives will have to carry out investigations through different timelines and implement daring strategies in order to catch a serial killer.
About the fourth season of true detective
Season 4 of ' True Detective' has marked one of the most anticipated deliveries by the public. Since, the most recent installment was in 2019 and there had been no talk about the renewal until now.
The new director 'Barry Jenkins' offered key details about the plot during a virtual press conference with the Variety agency. The fourth installment of the HBO series will be titled 'True Detective: Night Country', in addition, it will star two female detectives for the first time.
In addition, the series will be set in the Arctic, one of the coldest scenarios that the series has shown, where darkness can last more than 24 continuous hours.
This time the protagonists will have to unleash the mysteries of a murderer, while they have to deal with extreme weather.
Many people have wondered why the series took more than 3 years to confirm a new installment, even though season 3 was a total success. Barry Jenkins claimed that showrunner Nic Pizzolato was working on the script for season 4 a couple of years ago, however, he had to scrap it.
Since, some actors did not confirm the renewal of the contract and the plot was seriously affected. Consequently, Pizzolato was forced to write a new script for the fourth installment.
The story is already finished, however, the series will be published at the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2023. Since the shooting of the fourth season of 'True Detective' has not started.
