The esophagus is the muscular tube which transports food and liquids from the mouth to the stomach, you may not notice it until you swallow something very large or simply something is not right with it. One of the most common diseases it's the disease due to gastroesophageal reflux.
Another problem or illness that may occur in the esophagus is heartburn, cancer and esophagitis.
Doctors to diagnose any of these diseases use a variety of tests to diagnose. Including image tests, an upper endoscopy and a biopsy performed on the esophagus.
