SEO basics.

In SEO there are many concepts, so many that we could not name them all in a single article. That is why, below, we will talk about the most relevant ones.

Keyword : Keywords are the cornerstone of any SEO strategy. These serve the search intent of users, which makes your site appear when that keyword is searched.

Every SEO strategy is developed from keywords.

SERP : These are the acronyms for Search Engine Result Page, when you do a search on Google, it will return a page with different websites that may be of interest. These results page is known as the SERP.

Loading speed: Loading speed is simply the time it takes to load your website.

It is very important to constantly check web speed, in this way you can attack any problem that may exist in time.

Bounce rate : This is a statistic that search engines use to determine if a content is relevant or not. A bounce is when a user enters your website and does not take any action or simply leaves in less than 30 seconds.

White hat SEO : White hat SEO is a fairly common practice within search engine positioning strategies.

This is simply to follow each of the guidelines or standards established by search engines. This makes the site well regarded by both Google and any other search engine. It is a slower strategy, but without a doubt, the safest.

Black hat SEO : These are a set of practices that are the opposite of the white hat and that is where practices are carried out that are not entirely well regarded.

While it is true that this can make you see the results in less time, it also puts your site in danger, since if they find out, it will penalize you.

Gray hat SEO : This could be considered as a “balance” between the white hat and the black hat. Things are done that strictly comply with search engine regulations, but actions can also be taken that do not.

This is probably the most common type, as most sites, despite meeting most standards, are always looking for a “shortcut”.

Spiders : Spiders are search engine robots that visit websites and crawl content. These are responsible for verifying, checking and classifying all the content on the network.

Indexing : It is understood by indexing when a URL of a website is already in the database of search engines. Once this URL is indexed, it can be displayed in search results.

Deindexing : This is the opposite step to indexing, in this practice the objective is to remove a URL from the search results. The reasons can be many, which makes this a fairly common practice.

Backlinks : The backlinks or inbound links is another of the most important elements that search engines take into account.

This consists of those links that point to your website from the outside. For example, if a site reviews a product you sell and links to your page, this is considered a backlink.

Google algorithm : It is no secret to anyone that Google is the most important search engine, which is why SEOs develop their strategies based on their algorithm.

This is nothing more than a set of formulas that determine how websites are ranked. From there the system decides how they are ranked within the SERPs.

Keyword study : This consists of researching with various tools which are the keywords that can go best with your website. It is an important part of any successful SEO strategy, since the keywords are chosen from here.

Penalty : This is simply a punishment often applied by search engines for breaking their rules. This causes your website to drop abruptly and suddenly in the SERPs. It is very important to avoid being penalized, as recovering will take time and money.

SEM : SEM is a different search engine positioning strategy than SEO. Although the objective is the same (to position a website) in the SEM, it pays for the website to appear in the SERPs.
