The Pokémon celebration will be next week.

As it happens every year, next April 22 will be celebrated Earth Day. This movement, which originated in 1970, takes place every year and aims to raise awareness of the importance of saving our planet for a healthy future.

This year's theme is “Invest in our planet” and act boldly, innovate and apply. What better platform to raise awareness than an extremely popular game? Niantic wants to do just that by celebrating Sustainability Week 2022 in Pokémon Go.

Between April 20 and 25, Pokémon Go will spread the message of creating a sustainable future with plenty of challenges and rewards for players.

What can we expect from this event?

You will be able to get two new Pokémon to complete the pokédex.

The celebrations kick off with the debut of two new Pokémon: Oranguru, the Wise Pokémon, and Cherubi, along with its Shiny variant for lucky Trainers.

Everything is going to be green, as other Pokémon like Oddish, Turtwig, Grotle, Venasur and others will appear in the wild more often. Some Shiny Pokémon can also be found hiding in the grass, so keep an eye out. Additionally, all seven km eggs will hatch into Alola Diglett, Larvitar, Cherubi, and Oranguru.

Most of these Pokemon and a bunch of others like Chikorita and Sewaddle will be attracted by Moss Attract Modules and become available through Field Research task encounters.

Field Research tasks include Mega Energy for Abomasow and Venasaur. The timed investigation on April 23 will force players to travel one kilometer to get an encounter with Cherubi and for every five kilometers traveled, Niantic will plant 100,000 trees.

Additionally, a new Collection Challenge will be added to the Elite Collector Medals and a Moss Lure Module that will help capture Gloom and Weepinbell. To top it off, everyone will receive a x2 XP bonus for spinning PokéStops for the first time.

An event you cannot miss

Get new species for your collection and help the planet at the same time.

This is one of the many events that Niantic throws every year for this game and each one of them is more interesting than the rest. In this case, you will be able to get some exclusive pokémons and if you are one of the people who likes the grass type, you cannot miss it.

Not only will you be able to improve your Pokédex, but you will also be contributing a small grain of sand to collaborate with the environment.
