Gypsy arm details
The gypsy arm traces its origins to a Monk who on a trip to Egypt brought this recipe to Spain. At first, it was called the Egyptian arm, over the years it changed to the gypsy arm.
In some countries they call it Swiss arm, with the particularity that it is a preparation with vanilla or chocolate and is totally sweet, since both the cake and the filling are sweet.
This time we will make a salty version of gypsy arm, which with the cream cheese, any vegetables that you integrate will simply be very tasty to eat. Learn how to make this beet gypsy arm with cream cheese.
Ingredients
100 milliliters of milk
150 grams of cooked beet
1 clove garlic
1 egg
200 grams of cheese
90 grams of flour
1 pinch of salt
200 grams of cream cheese
Preparation
Help yourself with an electric mixer, so that you integrate the garlic, salt, milk, beets, flour and egg, until you have a fine dough.
Now, we are going to cook the tortillas, for this we must place a little oil in a pan, over medium heat and apply a thin layer of batter.
When you notice that heat bubbles begin to form, flip it over. Wait a minute or so and remove the tortilla from the heat.
As it is an omelette, it is not necessary to let it rest on a damp kitchen towel.
Wait for them to cool, and apply a good layer of cream cheese on it and begin to shape it into a roll to create the gypsy arm.
With transparent paper or aluminum, wrap the roll that you just formed and take to the fridge or refrigerator if you want to speed up the process.
This time in the freezer will allow you to achieve clean, even cuts.
When it's freezing from the freezer, scoop out the aluminum foil and begin making 1-finger-thick cuts.
Do not consider the edges, and start serving the slices, when you have placed a few on each plate or on a tray and take away to start enjoying.
Considerations
This recipe is very delicious and practical to prepare, since it is in the pan, and you should not wait the same time as when it is made in the oven.
Also remember to use the longest or largest tray you have, at least 25 centimeters in diameter.
If you have a small pan you can make several so that you can put together several small gypsy rolls and arms.
The filling to be presented can be varied so that you can include different vegetables and place a slice of each one.
Be part of this madness of the gypsy arms and go ahead and prepare them to vary your food or to give a delicious apéritif in your celebrations.
