Sinistra, known in his home country for his position on the pandemic, had not been vaccinated against COVID-19 and refused to be hospitalized to receive the necessary treatment to attack the virus. The athlete weighed 103 kg and was 1.85 meters tall.

In his Instagram posts, the competitor was shown fighting with exercises or around special events related to his sport. At the time he became ill, his coach Osman Yigin tried to convince him to be hospitalized. However, Sinistra refused.

He also declared on his social networks “Thank you for your support. I am recovering at home, as it should be. I will come back a thousand times stronger”, he published.

This contagion generated confusion among citizens. Currently, they present new sanitary limitations. Among them is the closure of theaters, concert halls, cinemas, stadiums, putting the lives of each one in trouble.

These measures are applied again when Belgium has registered a total of 1,094 incidents, with a weekly decrease in infections of 36%, which has remained stable since the end of last November.

Alexander De Croo, Belgian Prime Minister, assured that the Government has agreed on these really necessary actions with the regions of Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels.

He insisted that this decision was made to prevent the spread of the new Omicron variant, which is known to be more contagious than Delta.

It is important to note that 47% of those contaminated with Covid-19 in Belgium guarantee to have lasting COVID-19, that means that they present an indication of the infection three months after the disease.

This was determined in the results made last Friday by the Belgian public health institute Sciensano.
