Discover the damages and effects that horror movies produce on children

Long ago, a dark movie was only seen by parents or adults; Today it has already become a family theme, parents have no problem watching this type of television with their little ones and in many cases, even children can watch them alone in their rooms.

What many ignore is what is really behind each horror movie; in this case I am referring to the effects, sequelae and consequences that they can cause in the child.

What if a child watches a horror movie?

As parents or adults it can make us laugh, because it is only a movie, what we do not know is that even if it is a television fantasy, the brain, neurons and emotions of the child are living this fantasy as a reality.

Causing with the passage of time, fears, rejection, and sensitivity to a dark world that they will later want to replicate in their reality. There are even studies that have led children to schizophrenic processes as a result of what they have seen.

These are negative effects that a horror movie produces on children

Instability in sleep, and insomnia

Another collateral damage that horror films produce is insomnia, a sleep disorder, which can be lasting or for a season, it all depends on how repressed the person is.

Children grow while they sleep and if an infant finds it difficult to fall asleep, he is not allowed to grow up, likewise when he gets up he will not perform correctly, as he will feel tired.

Anxiety, fear, and lack of security

An infant is like a sponge absorbing everything that is around him and when we introduce his senses of sight and hearing to these kinds of films, we are letting anxiety creep in for them.

To this is added that feeling of fear, restlessness and fear that will accompany him for many years in his life.

Many anxious adults today have their roots in childhood, most were exposed to moments of fear, abuse and terror, some lived it firsthand, others saw it in front of a television.

Horror movies produce mental disorders

Anxiety can cause mental disorders and lack of adaptation to the reality of the person, school, work, family. This same anxiety in the future can lead to panic attacks, a constant fear of unreal situations.

They generate a traumatic experience

When we expose a child to a horror movie we are making his heart pump blood faster than normal, his lungs begin to do the same procedure with air, and thus every part of the child's system producing a traumatic experience that It will be difficult to erase from your memory as time goes by.

The most difficult thing to erase from our memory are the experiences of the past, and watching a movie like this makes us experience it because the senses such as sight and hearing are at stake.

The child's brain will begin to seek help, when it cannot find it, it will proceed to flee and when it cannot do so, it ends in collapse. By now, the damage is done.

Most children do not distinguish fact and fiction

All of us in our childhood were exposed at some point to a film that made us tremble with fear, that did not allow us to fall asleep, that made us wrap ourselves completely and entrust ourselves to a guardian angel and the reason was because it was very difficult for a child you can tell what is real and what is fiction.

If we have all been victims of this psychological abuse at some point, why do we want to replicate the story? It should not be like that, we should break the pattern, if once someone did it with us, we should not do it with our children.

Say NO! To horror movies in your little ones

It is not about being a retrograde, but about capitalizing on what benefits, cognitively and emotionally, our children and what does not. Everything is allowed to us, but perhaps not everything suits us. There are currents that encourage watching these types of movies with the family. The problem is not seeing it, the real question would be, is it convenient for my children to see that?

Today I want to invite you to say No, to terror, anxiety, blood, death, insomnia, mental disorders. To everything that disrupts the formation, development and healthy growth of your children, say no.

As parents, we want the best for our children, health, love, emotional well-being, security, identity, protection.

But when we sit him in front of a television and offer him a horror movie, the opposite happens.

We show fear, inappropriate behavior, blood, death, screaming, fighting, bad words, curses etc. Then everything we want for our children when we expose them to this type of programming ceases to be congruent.
