Disney Studios will release a new “Snow White” movie without stereotypes

The Disney Studios company has always been characterized by producing animated classics that have lasted for more than 30 years, and transcend from generation to generation.

On January 24, the Disney Studios company stated that in the new version of the movie "Snow White" it would avoid implementing stereotypes in its history, and would change the approach.

This strategy was not the idea of the production, it arose from a criticism made by the renowned actor "Peter Dinklage" about the Disney classics.

Peter Dinklage: thinks about the live action "Snow White" during an interview

On January 25, after Disney's announcement about his new production, British actor Peter Dinklage gave his opinion regarding the next Disney+ animated filming, stating the following words:

“They're so progressive on some things, but they're still doing this outdated story about seven midgets living together in a cave, what the hell are they doing? Haven't I made any headway from my rostrum? I guess I'm not loud enough".

Peter Dinklage gave his thoughts on "Snow White" during an interview that was broadcast on the WTF podcast led by Marc Maron.

Despite making this constructive criticism towards the creators of the plot, he also mentioned that he thought it was excellent that they chose the Latin actress Rachel Zegler as the new protagonist with the role of Snow White.

“I was a little surprised that they were so proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White. But they continue to tell the story of 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' -explained the actor-. Take a step back and look at what you're doing. It doesn't make sense to me".

Disney responds to criticism

Disney Studios made a statement through the media where it mentioned that it was going to give "a different approach to the characters in the story, especially the 7 dwarfs, to avoid reinforcing the stereotypes of the story of the animated classic."

This will not be the first time that they apply this cinematographic strategy, since in the live actions of "The Lion King" and "Aladdin" they implemented the strategy of readapting classic animated films with stories revolving around the modern world, and changing the characters so as not to generate controversy in this new generation.

Likewise, it was mentioned that they already have the actors that will be part of the cast to start filming in the spring of 2022. This means that the series will be published at the beginning of next year 2023.
