Husband and son of photographer Halyna Hutchins sues actor Alec Baldwin
This lawsuit is part of the most recent regarding the legal process of the tragic event.
Actor Alec Baldwin is sued for wrongful death by the family of Halyna Hutchins, director of photography for the movie 'Rust'.
Baldwin was on a ranch in New Mexico rehearsing a scene with a revolver alongside Hutchins. In this episode, a shot wounded her to death.
Halyna's husband Mathew and their son Andros are represented by attorney Brian Parnish, who showed a list of 15 industry-standard procedures that he alleges were ignored by the production team on set.
The death of the photographer is argued by the lawyer, as wrongful conduct and a measure to reduce costs.
This list shows that they did not use people qualified in handling weapons on the set, absence of prop weapons and protective equipment for workers.
He also added that the actor did not agree to receive training to draw the weapon.
In the presentation of the lawsuit made in New Mexico, where the tragedy occurred, the lawyer was in charge of showing a reconstruction of the events in 3D.
Serge Svetnoy, the lighting director, proceeded to sue the actor for negligence. Likewise, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed proceeded to denounce the production's ammunition supplier in January for putting real bullets in the prop cartridges.
At the moment, a criminal investigation is underway. However, no one has been charged with criminal charges or arrested.
The actor Alec Baldwin assured on different occasions that he spoke several times with the family of the director of photography.
In an interview, the actor stated that, when he received the weapon for due testing, he was told that it was out of ammunition and that he simply followed the instructions when reviewing the scene.
