The Witcher is one of the most anticipated series in recent times and although the Netflix streaming platform has not specifically announced the premiere date, Netflix has released the first trailer for The Witcher series taking advantage of San Diego Comic-Con. The reason for using Comic-Con is that the story is also very popular with gamers, who are looking forward to the upcoming release of Projeckt RED for the Nintendo Switch.

Both the game and the upcoming series are based on the books of the Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski, however Netflix has made it clear that the series will respect the books as much as possible and do not pretend to stick to the image that video games present of the stories, of In fact, something to note is that in the first season the series will not have a villain. The main figure of the trailer is Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), who comes to be the main hero of the story in both the books and the games.

Is The Witcher looking to match Game of Thrones?

From the perspective of many users of the platform, Netflix tries to present a series that competes with the devastating success of Game of Thrones, the story based on "The Song of Ice and Fire" by George RR Martin and that, among other achievements, it added 32 Emmys nominations to HBO (historical record of nominations for a series at the awards show to be held in September).

However, it is not entirely certain that the series will achieve similar success although the variety of characters, the entertaining story and the twists that the series will have announced, indicate that it will be a true success.
