Chile studies the reduction of working hours up to 12%
Currently, in Chile there is debate about the reduction of working hours. Currently, working a total of 45 hours a week, what is sought is to reduce to 40 hours per week. The project was already approved first by the Labor Commission of the Chamber of Deputies.
From now on, Parliament is expected to approve the bill. However, the projects have two views, such as improving the productivity and quality of life of their workers. The projects are supported by the Government of Chile and the Communist Party, although with different points of view.
The Communist Party wants the working hours to be reduced to 40 hours, against the current 45-hour limit. They want Chilean workers to reduce the level of stress, extend family hours and prevent Chileans from being absent or losing their job due to the number of hours of stress to which they are subjected.
The Government of Chile proposes that they continue working those 180 hours, but improve the conditions of the workers who are subordinate and their bosses.
Most of both projects are to improve working conditions. The country's productivity has been on the decline in recent decades. It is believed that Chileans are tired of the hour intensity, but in addition to the little time they dedicate to family activities.
One of the ideas of reducing the weekly hourly intensity is to produce new jobs in the country, which has received many Venezuelans seeking better living conditions.
For the moment, the project to reduce the workload was approved by the Deputies, but it must be debated in Parliament.
