Italy seeks new natural gas suppliers in Africa – News – WebMediums
The European Union will receive around 50 billion cubic meters of liquefied gas from the US.

In order to find new alternatives, Italy decided to look for natural gas suppliers in Africa and thus break with dependence on Russia, which is the largest supplier of the mineral, and due to the sanctions on Moscow, the countries of the European Union should see new options.

According to the Prime Minister of Italy, Mario Draghi, this country not only seeks to free itself from economic dependence, but also from a political "subjugation" that Russia has over the EU members.

The expectations of this visit are great, it is expected that the Congo and Angola will supply Italy with around 5 thousand additional cubic meters and 1,500 per year.

In this way, by 2023 half of the Russian supply can be replaced, as long as Algeria adds extra natural gas; since it currently supplies the ore to Europe.

On the other hand, the energy company Eni, explained that days ago an agreement was signed with Egypt which will help supply 3 million cubic meters of liquefied gas during this year to several countries of the European Union.

During the month of March, the EU agreed with the United States to maintain an extensive demand for liquefied gas of around 50 billion cubic meters per year, thus replacing the one provided by Russia.

Regarding the purchase of oil, the European Union has not determined with which country to replace the supply, so they have not yet tightened the sanctions on the Kremlin.
