Pfizer contemplates the fourth dose after an increase in covid 19 cases
Albert Bourla, executive director of Pfizer, reported that it will be necessary to place a new reinforcement of its vaccines, due to the appearance of new strains of covid 19, which would mean a fourth dose.
The appearance of a new subvariant of omicron has raised alarm in the population, especially when coronavirus cases are increasing in Europe and China.
The possibility of a new inoculation could prevent a new wave of the virus, although there are countries that have decided to make the use of masks more flexible.
Some of the European countries that have had an increase in positive cases are Germany, Italy, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands, which has set off the alarms and contemplated the possibility of a new Pfizer dose.
According to data provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the effectiveness of the vaccine in preventing death or hospitalization has decreased from 91% to 78% in the last 4 months, after reinforcement placement.
It should be noted that there are countries like Chile that have already started placing the fourth dose since January 2022, Israel is also added to this list, who are inoculating the most vulnerable population.
