The foundation of Prince Charles is being investigated by Scotland Yard, for an alleged granting of honorary titles and for facilitating British citizenship, in exchange for millionaire donations, to the tycoon Mahfuz Marei Mubarak bin Mahfuz.

Despite the statement, the residence of the heir to the crown, expressed that the prince would not have knowledge of the indicated exchange.

Although he is the chairman of the foundation, a statement to The Mirror by a spokesman for the monarch assured that the prince was unaware of the alleged offer of honors to the Saudi.

The focus of the investigation being carried out by the British police are the millionaire donations from The Prince's Foundation, in exchange for honorary titles and British citizenship.

The title offered to the Saudi is the Order of the British Empire, one of the highest honorary titles.

In 2021, the Sunday Times indicated that said organization had accepted the sum of 1.5 million pounds sterling (approximately 1.75 million euros), from the Saudi tycoon. For this reason, this year the authorities try to investigate the truth regarding what is indicated.

According to the Sunday Times, the money was used to support his application for British citizenship, but so far there is no information that he has already obtained it.

Scotland Yard issued a statement in which it reported that, the investigation decision was made based on analyzes of a September 2021 letter.

This information exploded after the director of the foundation and the prince's confidant, Michael Fawcett, submitted his resignation last October.

In 2016, emails were leaked to the press in which members of Mahfouz's team were seen to be communicating with Fawcett, for the management of the title exchange, which was awarded to him in a private ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
