Tropical storm Dorian threatens Puerto Rico and nearby islands
A few hours ago, a warning was declared to Puerto Rico for the arrival of Dorian that it still continues as a tropical storm and that has already passed through Barbados. However, the hurricane warning was issued because in the next 48 hours there is a high risk of appearing on its shores.
Wanda Vázquez informed all the inhabitants of Puerto Rico to prepare for the arrival of the tropical storm, but to be ready in the event of a Hurricane. However, I call for calm and prudence, since with enough time everyone could prepare adequately and not carry out a massive collapse on the streets.
Puerto Rico had several shelters throughout the island, which are prepared for almost 50 thousand people who wish to be in a safe place. Of course, the hospital network is prepared for any eventuality and in the following hours only cases of extreme urgency will be attended to, to be ready for a possible hurricane.
The National Hurricane Center believes that Dorian will soon lose its strength and end up in the Bahamas or towards the southeastern United States. However, it will arrive as a tropical storm, and although they recommend not to lower your guard, there is no call for urgency or danger. It should be noted that these recommendations can change at any minute, so citizens are always advised to act as if it were a hurricane.
This season, much of Florida and Puerto Rico are preparing to receive the impacts of tropical storms that sometimes end up forming as hurricanes. The authorities repeated that calm must be maintained, while preparation is the key to the safety of its residents.
Schools, public events and some attractions will be closed until further notice.
