For weeks, the blocking of Twitter accounts of Cuban media has been denounced, as a result of the pressure carried out by the White House against Cuba. The recent pressures are due to the support that Cuba provides to Venezuela, which is why the United States constantly creates sanctions against Cubans.

Massive Twitter censorship of Cuba?

However, it is not the first time that Twitter accounts have been blocked, in the past this practice had already been used. The Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC) spoke out in this regard and in a statement titled this as an act of massive censorship.

Several accounts were blocked, especially before President Miguel Díaz-Canel began speaking on television. Among the blocked Twitter accounts are Mesa Redonda, Caribe, Granma, Radio Rebelde and Cuba Debate.

However, the blockade is absurd because internally they cannot block traditional transmission channels, therefore, it is believed that what they are looking for is that foreign opinion does not know details of what is happening on the island.

In the past, China received a blockade of 200 thousand accounts in their entirety. All supported the position taken by the Chinese Government. In Venezuela, a little more than 1,000 accounts were blocked because they were believed to be used to misinform or deceive the people. On the other hand, Twitter removed all the pro-Russian advertising that existed on the platform, especially those that supported the Putin government.

Twitter, the social network that classifies itself as "what's going on in the world," has been blocking opinion accounts since its inception. Their headquarters are in the US, and many say that the company and the government have a very special bond.

A few minutes ago it was known that some Twitter accounts were unblocked.
