Forgiveness will never go out of style

It happened in the spring of 2015 in Lexington, Kentucky, when a Muslim pizza delivery boy was stabbed to rob him by a group of youths and died on the spot. Two and a half years later, a court prosecuted and sentenced the person directly responsible for the brutal murder to 31 years in prison. (You can see the news in details here)

Until then, everything seems to fit into the current news of this tropical cyclone that is progressively increasing in intensity, and we like to call it the world. It may be one of those stories that sticks like a suction cup to our twisted mind, so that we can continue to believe that living is crazy, that something should definitely burst one of our arteries, and end the suffering.

So, for a moment, we put ourselves in the place of the father whose son has been murdered, a tender, generous and shy boy who liked rap, and was sensitive to write, a boy who worked to contribute to the finances of his family, delivering pizzas at home. And right away you feel the sharp stab of impotence, you know that something suddenly paralyzes your diaphragm and prevents you from breathing, with a dull pain and a brutal sadness at the loss.

Immediately other vermin are added, violence, rage and deep hatred to those who have wounded in such a cowardly way the one who was blood of our blood and bone of our bones, we vomit hatred through our eyes and an unbridled thirst for revenge arises. At that moment we can disembowel the author of the act, we cry out that they give him a similar death.

Then the father of the murdered boy speaks during the hearing and leaves everyone present stunned, because he shows how magical there is in the Human Being, when he expresses that he does not blame the murderer, that he blames the forces of evil that pushed his arm with a knife.

And immediately the one who was being lacerated by the executioners and asked for mercy for them comes to mind. Where does the deep wisdom come from that recognizes that forgiveness washes away the most bitter wounds ? Who is the one who becomes aware that by forgiving, fear dissolves and love is allowed to take its rightful place?

The execrable human behavior, murder and pederasty, rape and mistreatment must be condemned and cannot go unpunished, abuse cannot be turned a deaf ear, the lack of human solidarity, the miseries that are entrenched in the darkest of the cowardice.

And at the same time, as quantum physics has not tired of demonstrating lately, to forgive the murderer and the pederast, the rapist and the rest of the criminals and without allowing them to come out of their confinement, without running the risk that they do it again, forgive them and feel the best you can feel for them, which is undoubtedly the compassion that makes us more human and more beautiful.
