The actor Keanu Reeves, known for his impeccable performances in great films such as "The Matrix" and "John Wick", announced a few days ago that he would participate in a concert scheduled for March 3, 2022, whose purpose is to help the Tibetan cause. The organization of the event is carried out by the "Tibet House" foundation.

The Tibet House organization is known by Beijing as a separatist group, whose sole objective is to support the Dalai Lama's cause for the independence of Tibet.

For this reason, millions of Chinese nationalists have been furious and demanded that the award-winning actor be boycotted, and that all his films be removed from China, for supporting the Tibetan cause.

The last film of the Hollywood actor to arrive in China was the fourth installment of The Matrix, which in just fifteen days after its premiere has managed to collect 12.3 million dollars at the box office.

However, these large figures could be affected in the coming days by the situation against the actor.

Chinese regionalists attack Keanu Reeves via Weibo

Through the website " Weibo " one of the most successful Chinese social networks, various influential people have expressed their contempt and disagreement with the leading actor of " Matrix Resurrections ".

The official ChinaD8 account is one of the most influential in the entire Asian nation and last Saturday, January 29, it published:

"How can Keanu Reeves take part in a pro-Tibet independence concert? Aren't these famous people afraid of losing the Chinese market? The movie should be pulled now. Out of the Chinese market, thank you."

After this statement, which attacks Keanu Reeves, hundreds of users also began to express and comment on it; requesting that each of the filmings where the American actor appears be completely eliminated.

The Chinese nation is one of the actor's favorite places, since his grandmother is Chinese and has always had great appreciation for the country, in addition, China marked his life when he debuted as a film director for the film "The power of Tai Chi."

The celebrity has felt very sorry for the events, as he stated that he has "a close relationship with China and a large fan community."

However, so far no official action has been taken regarding the film “Matrix Resurrections” in the Chinese film industry, since it has not yet been shown at the charity event in Tibet and they cannot cancel it.

However, we will have to wait after March 3 to see if a bad relationship with China is provoked.

Famous Actors Canceled in China

Keanu Reeves is not the first Hollywood actor to have problems with the Asian nation and be boycotted.

Among the first actors who have managed to make the Chinese authorities uncomfortable are: Richard Gere, who became a Buddhist and defender of Tibet and Brad Pitt since the premiere date of the film "7 years in Tibet".

The film "Kundun" directed by Martin Scorsese also suffered a boycott in China, since it represented a good positive portrayal of the Dalai Lama and Disney decided to ignore the warnings. This caused the cancellation of all Martin Scorsese productions from the China catalogue.
