EXO's Suho to end his mandatory military service soon
Suho, a member of the k-pop group EXO, entered the mandatory military service on May 14, 2020, and will end the 18-month term on February 13, 2022.
Suho is the third EXO member to enlist in mandatory military service.
His entry into military service has been discreet, only accompanied by his companions and relatives.
Xiumin and DO enlist in 2019. The first will be released in December 2020.
Facts about Suho
Kim Jun-myeon was born in Seoul, South Korea, on May 22, 1991. Better known as Suho (수호), he is a South Korean singer and actor.
He was introduced as a leader and a member of EXO in February 2012, making his official debut in March of the same year.
He began his acting career in January 2014 in the KBS2 drama “Prime Minister and me,” playing Han Tae-woong.
He made his solo debut on February 19, 2020, with the album "Self Portrait." Thus, becoming the fourth member of EXO to perform solo.
Farewell letter
On May 5, 2020, Suho personally confirmed the date of his enlistment in the military.
He did it in a very special way, through the Lysn platform, where he shared a handwritten letter in Korean, announcing his entry into the army:
“Hello dear EXO-L, I am Suho.
I am writing this letter today because I have something to say to all of you. On May 14, I will enlist in military service to fulfill my duty. I think I'm going to miss EXO-L a lot during that time.
I hope our EXOLs, who think of me every day and give me love every day, are always healthy. I sincerely thank you and I love you.
We are one, EXO. Let's love each other. (We are one, EXO, 사랑 하자)”.
What does EXO-L mean?
For those who do not know the meaning, we will explain it briefly. It is one of the gestures of affection of the group for its fans.
The first three letters of EXO-L were chosen by the group and the last letter has two meanings.
The first is the representation of the word Love.
And the second is because it is between K and M, the two subunits of the EXO group.
Emotional farewell to fellow EXO members
Through the Lysn platform, photos of Suho's emotional farewell were posted by his fellow EXO members who were staying in South Korea at that time.
Sehun, Chanyeol, Baekhyun, Chen and Kai came to see him off, since Yixing was in China.
The now classic photo of the group could be seen touching the shaved head of the member who is temporarily leaving.
They did the same with DO and with Xiumin at the time.
Suho reportedly will be at the Nonsan Training Center in South Chungcheong Province. There he will complete the four weeks of basic training.
Suho said goodbye in advance with a photo on EXO's official Instagram with the words “WE ARE ONE EXO, Let's Love”.
