Older brother of singer Mariah Carey is sued by the artist
The brother insists that everything the singer says is defamation.
Mariah Carey decided to file a lawsuit against Morgan Carey, her older brother. This would be to request that you cancel all legal costs incurred from an old defamation lawsuit that I filed against the singer.
In 2021, Morgan had sued the pop star for creating a violent image of him in her memoir 'The Mening of Mariah Carey'. Therefore, now the singer decided to claim from her 62-year-old brother the cost of all legal expenses at that time.
Mariah Carey's lawyers were in charge of introducing the documents before the Manhattan Supreme Court.
The 52-year-old artist explained that it is very certain that she will win the case, since the parts of the book that her brother says are defamatory are really "substantially true."
Likewise, the interpreter assured that her statements were not published with any kind of malice, which will have to be proven in court.
In response to the lawsuit, Morgan asked a judge to reject the documents presented by her sister. He insists that the singer and her lawyers have not signed a verification swearing that this presentation is true.
Judge Barbara Jaffe last month ruled that Mariah must take responsibility for Morgan's two lawsuits, after she dismissed 14 more lawsuits.
The other accusations concern allegations that her brother was selling cocaine, hiring a hitman, beating their mother, and that he was an alcoholic.
