The end of Windows 11? Microsoft could be developing Windows 12
Windows 12 could be in development right now according to rumors.

It is no secret to anyone that Windows 11 has a good number of problems and, despite the aesthetic change, it does not seem to take off. The reasons for this could be many, however, the low acceptance of this operating system would have motivated Microsoft to think about its successor.

Today we are going to talk a little more about this topic and we will tell you what we know so far about the supposed Windows 12 that could be on the way.

What do the statistics say?

Windows usage statistics.

According to statistics, Windows 11 has not been widely accepted by users. Despite being an operating system to which you can update for free, the truth is that its market share is only 2.6%.

If we compare, currently, Windows 10 has an 81.15% market share. Even Windows 11 is surpassed by older operating systems such as Windows 8.1 (2.6%) and Windows 7 (11.92%). Despite the fact that the operating system has only been on the market for a few months, the data has not been anywhere near what Microsoft expected.

We may see Windows 12 before Windows 10 support ends.

As it has become known, Microsoft has lost faith in Windows 11, so it is about to start developing Windows 12.

Despite the fact that it is almost half a year since it came out, it is still in the shadow of Windows 10 and there are many things that Microsoft did with this system that do not fully convince users.

Starting with the fact that it could not be installed on devices that did not have the TPM 2.0 chip, which in itself left out a large number of users.

Additionally, we have that this system has less performance than Windows 10. To this we also add the fact that local accounts will disappear.

While it is true that these types of changes are "necessary" today, the company sought to introduce many changes that affect users in a short time.

The same thing happened with Windows 8 a few years ago, Microsoft tried to implement some changes that were not liked by users and that system ended up failing.

According to "SwiftOnSecurity" a computer security expert had anticipated that the development of Windows 12 was already underway. However, Duskmodder has also said that his sources claimed that the development of the successor to Windows 11 would start in March.

The development, in the event that it has not already started, would be soon to do so. Let's remember that Windows 10 still has support until 2025, so this new version could arrive before this support ends and the same story as with Windows 12 would repeat itself.
