Poultry meat and its nutritional value
Many of the different types of diets to lose weight and to stay healthy, have a particular ingredient that is poultry.
We must bear in mind that this food has been consumed for a long time, however we must know which are the healthiest poultry meats.
Nutritional value of poultry
To begin with, we must bear in mind that not all types of poultry are the same, since some of them provide many more calories. However, what we can say is that the main component of meat is water. Specifically, we can say that this forms 50% of the meat.
In relation to the amount of fat, as we mentioned this varies a lot. In fact factors, such as age, species, food and obviously part of the animal are essential to know what the fat index is.
If we speak in general terms, we can say that the foods with the highest fat content are lamb and pork. While the ones with the lowest fat would be turkeys, rabbit and chicken.
At the same time, poultry meat has other nutritional contributions, among which we have vitamins and minerals. Standing out particularly for its high concentration of heme type iron.
Finally, we must emphasize that poultry meat is food that has all the essential amino acids in the amounts that the body needs. Due to this, it is much easier for us to digest and absorb it.
Duck meat
A clear example of another type of poultry meat is duck. In this case we are talking about food that provides proteins, vitamins (B and B1), minerals (zinc, phosphorus, iron, among others), thiamine, niacin and riboflavin.
Thanks to its nutritional value, the duck is food that helps our body to synthesize vitamins and minerals much better. At the same time it allows to strengthen the immune system and repair cells.
