A few hours ago it was known through an anonymous publication that appeared in the well-known 4 Chan community that there was a data leak on Twitch. But it was not only a statement, but it came with a 128 Gb torrent with information about the platform and its users.

This is the largest confidential information leak the company has ever seen.

It is still unknown if the leak came from a hacker (or several) or came from an employee of the company. The only thing clear so far is that the leak is true and this was made known by Twitch through its social networks.

Twitch statement on the leak

As has been learned, this torrent contains "the entirety of Twitch." But that's not all, but in the words of the person who leaked the information, this was done to "encourage competition in the online video streaming sector." And it is that this leak, has been known until the source code of the platform.

Undoubtedly, this leak has represented a serious blow, both for the platform, and for its users who have seen their data compromised. Especially the streamers, of whom even the amount of money they have made with the platform has been leaked.

What does the filtration contain?

Among the information that has been leaked through this Torrent we have the following:

  1. Twitch source code including comment history.

  2. Twitch client, both for mobile phones, computers and consoles.

  3. Source code of a platform very similar to Steam whose name is "Steam".

  4. Internal security tools for company personnel.

  5. Proprietary SDK as well as some AWS services for internal Twitch use.

  6. Content creator payment records between 2019 and 2021.

  7. All the properties that the platform has, including CourseForge and IGDB.

These are some of the most important points of the filtration and to which it has been given more importance. However, there are probably a lot more things leaked.

Has personal data been leaked?

It has been learned that the encrypted passwords of the Twitch accounts may have been leaked.

This information has not been confirmed by the company, but people who have investigated the leaks speak of this possibility.

In any case, it is recommended that you change your password immediately, this in order to prevent you from having a bad time. If you use the same Twitch password in your email, it is recommended that you change it as well.

As a recommendation, activate the two-step verification of your account, in this way, you will be able to keep your account completely safe.
