This has just happened to a young man who, by following a diet based on only fries and sausages, has left him blind and deaf. The disease is known as ARFID, which is an eating disorder due to a severe lack of vitamins, which causes irreparable damage to the optic nerve and ends up also affecting the hearing.

Eating French fries and hot dogs for a decade can leave you blind and deaf

At just 19 years old, a young man now suffers from selective eating disorder, which led to a study that was published in the UK journal Annals of Internal Medicine.

Now, the young man has a total partial loss of his vision and ability to listen. From the age of 7 he began to consume only processed ham, white bread and his main diet was French fries and sausages. The young man also begins to suffer from bone weakness, due to the few minerals he consumes.

However, despite medical recommendations, the young man continues to eat in the same way, although now he is including some vitamin supplements to improve his health.

Doctors in the United Kingdom, sent a warning voice about ARFID, since it is a disorder that causes many diseases and that begins in its childhood stage. When parents do not adequately control these problems, the lack of vitamins and minerals begins to affect the health of the young person and ends up being a public health problem.

In the United Kingdom there are countless scientific studies on poor diet, but it is the first time that they have recorded a case like this. The previous studies are based on children in countries with high rates of malnutrition, where diseases appear, but not because of a disorder but because of the lack of access to a balanced diet.

Some doctors believe that this problem may begin to become normal in European health, so they warn of all the dangers such as blindness, early arthritis and hearing loss. In some cases, cancer and obesity will appear quickly.
