Jeff Bezos is the leader of the Climate Promise

“It is Earth, the only good planet in the solar system. And we have to take care of it” were the words of Jeff Bezos at the beginning of his conference on the purchase of electric cars. The project was named as Promesa del Clima, which includes a series of strategies for the decarbonization of the company.

The project seeks that by the year 2040 there was no type of issuance by Amazon. Reaching these goals is something that can only be done in collaboration with other large companies because we are all part of each other's supply chains (…) We want to use our reach and scale to lead the way.

The 100,000 vans were commissioned from a Rivian startup and will be ready in 2021. What Jeff Bezos seeks is to motivate other companies to invest in the electrical industry. This order becomes a world record, as it is the largest order for electric vehicles in order to deliver packages from a company.

When it comes to climate change, it is critical that national policy, as well as corporate planning and decision-making, be guided by science.

For the international environmental community, Jeff Bezos' plan was an outstanding debt, since in the last decade he had been criticized for doing very little to reduce the carbon footprint left by his company.

Now, new companies are expected to join this initiative and begin to reduce the environmental damage they cause to the planet.
