British ambassador resigns after criticizing Trump
Kim Darroch, head of the UK mission in Washington, submitted his resignation letter on Wednesday, following a controversy involving US President Donald Trump.
The controversy would have originated as a result of some leaked documents where the ambassador describes the current administration of Donald Trump as "dysfunctional" and "inept".
When these documents were leaked, Donald Trump strongly criticized the ambassador, without mincing words, as is the US president's custom. Thanks or in part to this, the ambassador decided to put an end to the controversy and present his letter of resignation, since, supposedly, after the events it was impossible for him to carry out his work.
Trump's criticism
"The absurd ambassador that the UK assigned to the US is not someone we are hooked on, a very stupid man. He should speak to his country, and Prime Minister May, about her failed Brexit deal instead of being angry with my criticism. I told Theresa May how to do that deal but, she decided to do it her stupid way. Disaster! I don't know the ambassador, but I've been told he's a pompous fool. Tell him that right now the United States has the best economy and military in the world by far. Thank you, Mr. President", President Donald Trump said in a series of tweets.
Theresa May, British Prime Minister, announced with regret before parliament for the resignation of Darroch and assured that she has the full support of her administration, she also said that governments depend on people like that, officials who give frank advice.
Darroch would have appreciated all the support, in addition to Theresa May, the UK Foreign Minister, Jeremy Hunt, who would also have presented his regret for the resignation of the ambassador through Twitter.
Kim Darroch had served the UK for 42 years.
Unfortunate that these things happen, according to his colleagues, Darroch was an excellent ambassador. What do you think? Is Donald Trump very harsh with his statements? I personally believe that all politicians should be like that, without mincing words, speaking clearly and without courtesy.
