Once again, a senior public official has been arrested by the Guatemalan Public Ministry. It is about the former prosecutor Thelma Aldana, who allegedly authorized the purchase of a building with overvalued management costs.

Although the building was purchased in 2017, the information of this purchase was kept in reserve due to the high monetary value that was administered. However, as there is evidence that this building was allegedly bought overpriced, an internal affairs prosecutor opened an investigation and ordered Thelma Aldana's arrest.
However, she is not the only one involved in the case. The prosecution conducted seven raids in this case. In addition, he issued seven arrest warrants, including Thelma Aldana. All the officials involved in this event worked in the Public Ministry.
For now the capture of Thelma Aldana is not possible. The former official is in the United States requesting asylum, justifying that she is being politically persecuted. The majority of those investigated are currently claiming political persecution as responsible for their being prosecuted.
