Venezuela: The proclamation of the opposition governor in Barinas suspended
Barinas wants to defend their vote

After eight days have passed since the elections for governors in Venezuela, the socialist party has removed once and for all the mask of democracy that they had placed. This is how the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) has charged again against the opposition.

Therefore, they have ordered that the CNE, the National Electoral Council, suspend the totalization of the votes in Barinas, called the cradle of the revolution and therefore the proclamation of the winner there.

The minutes give Freddy Superlano as the winner

According to the minutes of the political parties, it could be confirmed that Freddy Superlano, who is a candidate for the Popular Will, party of the president in charge Juan Guaidó and the former political prisoner today in Spain Leopoldo López, has prevailed with a few votes over the candidate for the Chavismo Argenis Chávez.

Argenis Chávez, who is the brother of the late former president Hugo Chávez and the main promoter of socialism in Venezuela.

In Barinas, the family of the supreme commander has ruled during the 22 years of the Chavista mandate, which is why they consider him a symbol of revolutionary power.

A historic change in Barinas

Between the two candidates, close to 200,000 votes were added once the electoral process had ended. However, a general did not want to deliver the minutes that confirmed the historic change where the Chavistas would lose the government of Barinas for the first time.

Last Sunday, civil society in Barinas had denounced the militarization of the voting centers there.

When it was announced that the CNE had started the totalization of the votes of the process in Caracas, once all the minutes that were in the hands of the military could be rescued, the TSJ intervened directly.

The TSJ further entangles the situation

The Supreme Court of Justice has further upset all this national mess about the government of Barinas. This appeal before the Supreme Court has served as a formal excuse for the decision, which has been filed by one of the deputies who are part of the group of collaborators for Alex Saab.

This deputy is also surnamed Superlano, although he has no family relationship with the winner of the regional elections in Barinas and is now unknown.

In this way, the Colombian magnate, whom former Attorney General Luisa Ortega has repeatedly accused of being the frontman of Nicolás Maduro, who is currently in a Florida jail awaiting his trial for conspiring to commit money laundering with the millions of dollars stolen in Venezuela by government corruption.

This time the TSJ has found a new justification to support its decision, this is how they accuse Superlano of having been disqualified from the exercise of any public office. This is a decision that contradicts the decisions made by the government of Nicolás Maduro in Mexico's dialogues with the opposition.

In these dialogues they reached an agreement for the rehabilitation of a part of the punished opponents.

Freddy Superlano's response

The opposition candidate and who was the winner of the regional elections for governors, Freddy Superlano has rejected this decision and has decided to remain in the street in defense of his victory. To all this, the Popular Will candidate has expressed the following:

"During these days of tantrums by some arrogant men they have wanted to take away the victory from the people, they want to seize power at all costs. Through a judgment of the Supreme Court now they want to annul the capacities of the CNE and worse still the will of the people. Come on. Together, don't leave me alone".

"The president in charge of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó has also spoken out on this fact." As the Electoral Observation Mission of the European Union has warned in its preliminary report, there is no right-wing state or independence of powers in Venezuela. "The new decision of the Supreme Court of Nicolás Maduro is the new sample of all this".

History repeats itself on the part of Chavismo

With this new ruling of the Supreme Court, it only remains to wait if the Venezuelan government will repeat what it did in Amazonas in 2015 and in Bolívar in 2017. In this first case, it was ordered that the three indigenous deputies elected in that territory be removed from their positions politicians.

At that time, the excuse was an opening of an investigation against them, a fact that is still unknown after six years of that process. This was initiated to avoid at that time a 2/3 opposition majority in parliament, which would have made possible the convening of a Constituent Assembly.

While in Ciudad Bolívar the results were changed so that at that time the opponent Andrés Velásquez could not assume the government won at the polls. The main interest of the government there is the Arco Minero, a place where gold smuggling has multiplied with a general in front of that border state.

In the case of Barinas, several things can be carried out, such as the repetition of the elections in order to choose Argenis Chávez as the winner, or that the Legislative Council declare a Chavista governor in charge, something similar to the protectors they have recently removed.

In response to all this, Freddy Superlano has expressed the following: "Then they are wondering why the Mission of the European Union said that there was no independence of powers in Venezuela".
