Dean of Colombian radio dies
At the age of 92, the renowned announcer Gabriel Muñoz López, died on the night of Thursday , August 1, who months ago had withdrawn from the media to tend to health problems that he had been presenting.
"The dean of Colombian radio" as everyone knew him, was born in Manizales (Caldas) on February 24, 1927 ; began to be part of the radio at 22 years of age.
Within his work as a radio professional, he worked as: sports announcer, had a radio program called "Así canta Colombia" which he directed for 50 years, and was also part of the new radio wave of Caracol Radio and La Voz de Colombia.
He is widely recognized for his narration in the Olympic Goal made by Marcos Coll in the 1962 World Cup in Chile, which had a scorer from C olombia (4-4) against the Soviet Union.
There is no doubt that a worthy representative of Colombian radio died, but without a doubt he reached the hearts of all those who enjoyed his occurrences and programs during his life as a successful Colombian friend and broadcaster.
