New controversy between Dwanye Johnson and Vin Diesel for statements about "Fast & Furious"
The renowned 49-year-old American actor, alias “The Rock” (The Rock, in Spanish) has entered a new and recent controversy with Vin Diesel.
Once again, the protagonists at the time of the "Fast & Furious" franchise were trending for their statements dedicated to each other. Without a doubt, it is another setback in a professional relationship that seems, definitely, to break down.
The Rock ruled out its participation in the 9th installment of the saga
Fast & Furious (Fast & Furious, in English), is one of the sagas that has given more revenue in the history of cinema. Since 2001, it has gripped fans by introducing a new kind of theme that encompasses action, police chases, high-powered racing, and great actors.
The success of the franchise titles led to their rapid exploitation by Universal Pictures. Thanks to this, he managed to execute quality leaps that renewed the level of the plot, such as, for example, the appearance of "The Rock" as Luke Hobbs.
Johnson's character was a highly effective federal agent. His diplomatic, pragmatic and methodical condition led the United States Government to commission him to hunt down Toretto and company.
Since "Fast and Furious 5control," La Roca became a recurring actor in the cast. However, for the 9th shoot in the movie string, he was surprising not to be directly involved in it.
The controversy could have started with an old "post" on Instagram
After the launch and the success of Fast and Furious 8 everything seemed to be going excellently for the franchise and the cast as such. However, the attention of fans was captured by a peculiar post on Instagram by Dwanye Johnson.
“I've always said that my female co-stars are great, and I love them, they do a great job. But, with my male fellow cast members, it is not the same case. Some are true professionals, but others are not at all”. — Johnson sentenced in 2017.
The comment on social networks was enough to confirm a possible break between the professional relationship of La Roca and Vin Diesel. Even the text written by the interpreter of Luke Hobbs in the 8th film of the franchise, did not end there:
“Next April (at the time of 2018) when you see the movie and think that I am not acting in some scenes, you are correct. In fact, my blood is legitimately boiling. "
Even so, the popular actor with a long history on his shoulders immediately deleted the post. On the other hand, some time later, he was in charge of denying the rumors that had been unleashed as a result. He stressed that Hobbs "was a difficult character" with a performance "that required a lot of work, with tough love."
The real reason, according to The Rock, that led to leaving the cast
Dwanye Johnson was absent from Fast & Furious 9 due to compromises in his busy schedule. Although the exact reasons for his desertion are not known, the interpreter has justified his absence in this way.
By the time filming began for Part 9 of the series, Johnson was promoting the release of his film with Jason Statham. Both men of action starred in the spin-off of "Fast & Furious", with post-production coinciding with the beginning of the "Furious 9" project.
On the other hand, it was exclusively dedicated to the production, premiere and launch of “Red Notice”. A new film for Netflix that brought together well-known actresses such as Gal Gadot, with whom he has previously shared the screen.
Ultimately, the digital media concluded that Johnson ruled out participating in "Furious 9". After personal projects with greater relevance, plus years of controversy and rumors of his differences with Vin Diesel, they made it impossible to return.
The "post" where Vin Diesel openly asked for the return of "The Rock"
New Year's Eve and New Year's Eve served to learn about the new situation of uncertainty between both actors. Vin Diesel ignited social networks by posting an image on Instagram where he appears playing Toretto and Dwanye Johnson as Hobbs. In the caption, the following is translated into Spanish:
"My little brother Dwanye. The time has come. The world awaits for the end in Fast 10. As you know, my children refer to you as "Uncle Dwanye" in my house and there are no parties where you do not send good wishes. The legacy awaits. I told you a few years ago that I would keep my promise to Pablo (Paul). Do not leave the franchise, since you have an important role to assume. Hobbs cannot be acted out by someone else. " — Diesel communicated.
After the events of Johnson's comment criticizing the professionalism of the cast, the disparities between the actors began. Likewise, it was found that, throughout the filming, the scenes became difficult between Diesel and The Rock.
Johnson's response further fueled the fire of speculation
La Roca did not take long to reply to Diesel, especially because according to his testimony, in June 2021 they held a long talk in person. In it, it was formally revealed that Hobbs would not be emulated again by the 49-year-old actor.
The two main protagonists of the franchise seem to have struck a firm "deal" that did not benefit the future of movies. Nonetheless, it was a cool-headed decision on The Rock's part.
Given the emergence of the recent publication on social networks of the work of Vin Diesel, Johnson acted together to argue his version of events:
“I was quite surprised by Vin's post. After our conversation in June, I made it clear to him directly and privately that I would not be returning to the films in the franchise" — Declared Johnson.
In the same way, he did not skimp on showing his anger at the events, calling his former co-star a manipulator. Therefore, he completed his appearance with the following dialogue:
“It is an example of their manipulation. I didn't even like the fact that he put his kids in, let alone Paul's death. Leave them out, man. We had spoken months ago and reached an agreement. I was totally firm, but cordial; I support the cast and everyone's success, but there's no way back. I also communicated it to my partners at Universal, perfectly understanding the situation and supporting me in every way”. — The Rock concluded.
For now, he is dedicated to his next film "Red One"
There is no doubt that in the world of cinema the news of these heavyweights of the action genre monopolized the digital media. But it seems that the true reality is that The Rock is dedicating itself to its next film.
It is an innovative Christmas title that encourages particular action scenes with an alternative twist or vision. Based on the statements of its producer, Hiram García, it was presumed that it takes aspects of “Hobbs & Shaw”, the spin-off of Fast and Furious.
It also highlights that the tone of the filming borders on that seen in certain Marvel films such as GOTG (Guardians of the Galaxy, in Spanish). Therefore, it will not be your typical Christmas movie, having the additive of a great like Dwanye Johnson.
Although the release date is not yet known, it is expected that starring La Roca will already guarantee a good collection at the box office. As is well known, Johnson draws with him a large audience that is advantageous for each film in which he appears.
