Microsoft gives a facelift to the task manager in Windows 11
The Windows 11 task manager has received a redesign in its interface.

Windows Task Manager has been with us for a long time and became a must-have tool. However, it is also true that this tool has seen little or no change in recent years. But it is about to change, as Microsoft seeks to give this tool a facelift.

Windows 11 is an operating system that has a renewed and elegant design that suits you quite well. In favor of achieving homogeneity within the system itself, Microsoft has begun to renew the old tools.

This time it's up to the task manager, which is going to get a complete redesign that allows it to adapt to the design of Windows 11. This new look will be available in an upcoming OS update.

A change that was needed

Despite having a similar air, it has been adapted to the new design of Windows 11.

At first glance, the change that this new task manager is going to have is simply visual. That is, no features are added or removed, but without a doubt, this test of Microsoft seeks to leave everything old behind and focus on the new and modern.

Now we will see that the navigation will not be by tabs as it has been until now, but there will be a side menu in which we will enter all the available options.

This is a fusion of the old with the new, since the information displayed probably reminds you a lot of the old task manager, but with a new interface.

When will this new task manager be available?

There is no date yet for the release of this new version.

It is not yet known when it will actually be available, however, in build 22538 the new task manager is already there, although it is "hidden". This can be found in a function known as "TaskManagerRejuvenated" and from which you can see the new interface it will have.

However, to see it is necessary to carry out some tricks, so for people without knowledge it is not recommended. But the interface is already finished, so it is to be expected that this new task manager will be available to everyone very soon.

How to activate this function?

It can be activated if you are inside the Windows Insider dev channel.

As we have said, thanks to a function this new hidden task manager can be activated. To do this you need to complete a few simple steps. As we have mentioned, if you do not have experience in this it is not recommended doing it, however, if you still want to try it, then we will tell you what the necessary steps are.

This function is hidden so to activate it is necessary to do it manually. Also, it's only available to those on the Windows insider Dev Channel, so you'll need to be on the program to access it.

  1. Make sure you have build 22538 installed, if not, update your system.

  2. You need to download the ViveTool, which allows you to enable some developer features in Windows.

  3. Extract the ViveTool and save it in the desired directory.

  4. Open the search bar and type "command prompt", right click and open it as administrator.

  5. Use the console commands until you are in the directory where you have extracted the ViveTool.

  6. Finally, type the following command: "vivetool addconfig 35908098 2" (without quotes).

With this you can start enjoying the new task manager in Windows 11. It is important to mention that although it is already in the system, it is not yet a final version, so its appearance could change before the official launch.
