The GAON list has revealed the global ranking of the most successful group and solo artists so far this 2019. In this way, some names have managed to stand out with great difference from the other idols. For one thing, BTS would have almost the same sales as the entire top 20 put together. Additionally, TWICE and SEVENTEEN have positioned themselves in the top spots thanks to their undisputed success.

The list would be based on a top 20 of the idols with the highest album sales in South Korea. Something that has been highlighted has been the exponential increase in sales in that country, reaching sales of more than 5 million copies for idols like BTS. Therefore, everything seems to indicate that K-pop is just beginning its world dominance.

BTS has positioned itself in the first position with more than 5 million copies sold so far this 2019. On the other hand, TWICE has been the most successful female group, surpassing the barrier of 600,000 copies with only one musical comeback made this year. SEVENTEEN would not be left behind, surpassing 500,000 copies and ranking at number three.

As for soloists, Baekhyun and Kang Daniel have proven to be the perfect idols, surpassing the barrier of 500,000 copies each. Therefore, everything seems to indicate that idols will be increasingly sought after as individual artists, which was very difficult to see years ago.

Other idols such as BLACKPINK, Red Velvet and NCT have also managed to position themselves in the ranking. All of these artists would have had quite enviable numbers for any artist globally. The surprise would come with the exponential increase in sales figures in the K-pop music scene.
