This delicious fruit called yellow kiwifruit or gold kiwifruit has an elongated shape with a crown-shaped upper end, its skin has a light brown tone and soft to the touch. The yellow kiwi contains a succulent pulp of golden color with small red or black seeds, with a sweet and very aromatic flavor.

Origin of yellow kiwi

In 1977 some New Zealand scientists took seeds of Actinidia chinensis from Beijing (China), to Bay of Plenty, where they were planting seeds of wild plants of the Chinese highlands of Gulin. After a selection process, the strongest female Actinidia Chinensis strain was crossed with a male plant from the Gulin highlands.

For the year 1992 in New Zealand, a final result was reached, being born through the crossing of seeds of a Chinese plant of excellent fruits of fleshy pulp of yellow color with other of kiwi male. And as a result there was a yellow fruit with the pulp golden and sweet. It begins to be planted on a large scale and was marketed under the name of Zerpri Gold kiwi.

By 1998, the Zerpri Gold kiwi was exported to Japan for the first time, and two years later the first yellow kiwis were commercialized in Europe.

 Folic acid: the kiwi is recommended for consumption in pregnant and lactating women, as it is a natural source of folic acid and vitamin B, that will help to obtain good health.
